Refined Farmhouse Kitchen

Milton, ON

April 2017

The intent of this design was to enlarge the kitchen footprint by removing a wall that separated the kitchen from an underutilized room to bring in additional natural light and work space. The expanded space offers additional storage and functionality with zones for daily food preparation, clean-up and entertaining.

Taking inspiration from farmhouse kitchens of the past, this updated version presents a refined approach to the style through chrome hardware, the shapely glass light fixtures and the tapered legs of the working island. Its elongated shape connects the working zones, provides a place to spread out during entertaining and is the focal point of the kitchen. Imparting elegance to the space, symmetry in the cooking area, island and wall unit was important to the client and gave definition to these distinct places in the kitchen.
